Some Common Questions About Face Painting, Glitter Tattoos and Airbrush Tattoos

FAQS

  • What areas do you cover?  In short – everywhere in the wider Canterbury area! I travel throughout Canterbury, but there may be a travel fee for events further from my base in Ashburton. Get in touch for a travel quote.
  • Do we need to supply parent or adult helpers for children’s birthday parties? not required but helpful.
  • Do we need to supply anything else?  I provide all of my own equipment however I would appreciate a sheltered space of around 1 metre where possible.
  • What sort of face paint do you use?  All the face paints and body paints I use are safe for skin, professional, high quality, cosmetic grade, imported from the US and Europe, australia and NZ. They are Australia, UK EU and FDA Compliant, approved for cosmetic use and   hypo-allergenic. They’re all 100% safe for skin, however some colours may stain a little. I use both water activated and wax based face paints (with paraffin wax). The main wax based face paint brands I use are TAG, FUSION, Global, Wolfe, and Diamond FX.
  • How do we remove the face paint? I suggest removing face paint with lots of soap first, lather and rinse with water. If there is any residual staining you can use anything oily that’s ok for the skin (coconut oil for example).
  • What sort of glitter do you use? All the glitter I use is approved for cosmetic use and is safe however I do try avoiding getting too close to the eyes. And chunky glitter is easiest removed by “scraping” gently with an eftpos card for example.
  • What sort of airbrush paint do you use? Pro Aiir ONLY – professional makeup FDA approved ingredients from Bodyfx in Auckland.
  • Why do you need to use professional grade cosmetic face paints?  “Non-Toxic” does not necessarily mean it is safe for your skin. Regular paints, markers or pencils are not meant to be used on the skin and some people are allergic to them. Professional-grade cosmetic face paints are tested specifically for this purpose and are safe. If you’re doing any face painting at home, make sure you use professional-grade, cosmetic face paints. See Top 10 Safety and Hygiene Tips for Face Painting: The Definitive Guide. Apart from the safety factor, professional face paints are specifically designed to be easy to apply, long lasting, vibrant and comfortable to wear, without itching and cracking. They will wear well for hours and are easily removed with mild soap and water when required.
  • How many faces can you paint in an hour?  Generally 10 faces per hour depending on size of design. For particularly detailed designs, it will take more time. As an example, for a party of 10-15 people we suggest 2 hours to allow for some gorgeous detailed designs, but please contact me to discuss what you need.
  • How do you clean your face painting brushes and tools?  I use soap in my water, brush cleaner, brush sanitiser, (between gigs) baby wipes and water to ensure everything is kept hygienic, clean and tidy. I thoroughly rinse my brushes between clients and all my tools are sterilized and cleaned between parties.
  • How far in advance do I need to book?  Generally 48 hours notice is appreciated. To ensure satisfaction try and book as early as possible but I will always try to make someone’s day special if I can so do get in touch.
  • What are your prices? $100 per hour for parties or negotiable for non-profit organisations. One on one is a minimum of $40.
  • How can I pay you? I will invoice you or you can pay me cash on the day.
  • What is the travel fee?  $30 if over 100ks from my house (hinds area)
  • What is your cancellation policy?  24 hours notice is appreciated.

If you have any other questions, I’d love to answer them for you with no obligation to book.
